Association Between Tic Aggravation and Methylphenidate in Youth With Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder

Objective This study aimed to determine the tic aggravation event rate and cumulative incidence in use of methylphenidate (MPH) treatment attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) factors that influence aggravation.Methods We conducted a retrospective chart review children adolescents aged between 6 15 years, who were diagnosed with ADHD from January 2017 December 2019. A total 121 subjects included. The MPH dosage, psychiatric family history, comorbidity past history tics assessed through psychological examinations data Collected analyzed using Cox regression Kaplan-Meier survival analysis.Results Tic rates without 2.9% ADHD. Past tics, dosage age associated ([HR 21.46, p<0.001], [HR 0.94, p=0.023], 0.79, p=0.021] for each). Cumulative was different groups or history. When treated MPH, all appeared within approximately eight months but tic, showed six (p<0.001).Conclusion significantly low especially group However, thorough assessment close monitoring during first six-eight is needed avert potential worsening tics.
